The current COVID-19 crisis brings up numerous legal questions around recruitment, people management, time off work, and people retention. Start dates are being pushed, offers are being rescinded, essential workers are on the front lines, while others are questioning their essential status. More employees are taking time off under the new and expanded paid sick leave laws popping up around the country.  And in many cases, employees are being furloughed or laid off where there isn’t sufficient work for them to perform as a result of the crisis.  These are confusing times, especially as we try to be conscious of business needs while maintaining safety and adhering to employment law requirements.
