Roundtable: Retaining Candidates & Talent

Topic: Every company wants to be better at retaining talent for obvious reasons--it's easier, cheaper, and less disruptive to keep a current employee than to find a new one. But we often overlook the importance of retaining candidates. Getting candidates in the door and interested costs time, effort, and money. Yet many candidates drop off during the interview process? Once an offer has been made? Worse yet, have you had anyone accept an offer and then ghost on their start date? With competing offers coming in faster than ever, it's even more important to keep reminding your candidates why your company is right for them.


As a group, we'll discuss strategies for retention from the first outreach straight through to incentivizing current employees to stay. A few discussion points include:

  • What is your cadence of outreach to keep candidates warm at different points in the process:
    • During the interview process?
    • Once offer is extended?
    • Between offer acceptance and start date?
  • With many potential employees working remotely, how can you get and keep them excited about your culture? Video content? New employee welcome packets/gifts?
  • How are you retaining current talent? Wage reevaluation? Retention bonuses? Are either of those working in this market?
